‘Innovative Young People’ event at M-Sparc, Anglesey – June 2019.
Cafwyd digwyddiad arbennig ym mis Mehefin yn M-Sparc, y tro hwn yn dathlu Gŵyl Arloesi Cymru 2019 – ‘Pobl Ifanc Arloesol’. Gwahoddwyd grwpiau o ddisgyblion o Ysgolion Uwchradd Môn a Gwynedd i fynychu, a chawsom dros ugain o gyflogwyr a mudiadau lleol i Ogledd Cymru ar stondinau arloesi ledled y safle. Gosodwyd her i’r disgyblion, sef i wario ugain munud ar bob stondin yn dyfeisio teclyn neu syniad arloesol gyda’r stondinwyr, a chael cyfle i ddysgu am eu gwaith cyn symud ymlaen at stondin arall. Roedd y diwrnod yn hynod o lwyddiannus, gyda’r disgyblion yn adborth yn ôl i dîm STEM Gogledd yn niweddarach ar eu mwynhad ac am yr hyn a ddysgwyd ar y diwrnod.
Rydym yn edrych ymlaen at gynnal digwyddiadau tebyg yn y dyfodol, gan gynnig lle i bob ysgol yn siroedd Gwynedd, Môn a Chonwy. Bydd hyn yn gyfle gwych i ddysgu am y sefydliadau a chyflogwyr sydd wedi eu lleoli yng Ngogledd Cymru, er mwyn dangos i bobl ifanc beth sydd ar gael yma o ran cyfleoedd STEM.

An event was held at M-Sparc in June this year, this time to celebrate Wales Festival of Innovation 2019 – ‘Innovative Young People’. Groups of pupils were invited from secondary schools in Anglesey and Gwynedd to take part, and over 20 employers and organisations from across North Wales were places on stalls across the site. A challenge was set for all groups of pupils, which was to spend 20 minutes on each stall with employers to innovate a product or idea, and was given time to learn more about the employer and their work. The day was hugely successful and the pupils’ feedback of the event was share with STEM Gogledd in order to understand what they would like to gain from a similar event.
We look forward to hosting a similar event in the near future, and would like to invite many more schools within the counties of Gwynedd, Anglesey and Conwy to take part. This will be a great opportunity to learn more about organisations and employers based in North Wales, and to show young people what is on offer here in terms of STEM opportunities.
